The End of Schulz and Peanuts
In the 1990's Charles Schulz's health began to fall. His hands developed a tremor which affected his writing and drawing. This made it hard for him to continue Peanuts. Later, in November 1999, he suffered a stroke which impaired his vision, memory and his motivation to work. He announced his retirement and the retirement of Peanuts on December 14, 1999. On January 3, 2000 the last daily strip of Peanuts was published. On February 12, 2000 Schulz died at age 78 from colon cancer. This was only a day before the last Sunday strip of Peanuts was to be published. Shortly after his death Schulz received the Congressional Gold Medal which is the highest honor a civilian can get.
Though Peanuts and the life of it's amazing creator has come to an end, many people all over the world enjoy the company of the Charlie Brown and his friends.
